Rewinding table

An inspection table (also: Umspultisch ) is a device in the cinema technology , which allows movies for a movie plate support for coupling .

This usually has the shape of a table from which two coil axes protrude. One of these axes has its own drive, which is controlled by control elements attached to the table. The second axis can also be driven or is equipped with a slip clutch . Both axles can be equipped with plate washers, which means that there is no need to use a plug- in reel for films that are not wound on a reel but on a film core, only the use of an adapter core ("Kodak core") is necessary.

To assemble a film, the respective act or the corresponding part of the preliminary program is placed on the braked side, the film is pulled to the desired level of the film plate via pulleys that are fixed on the table or height-adjustable and there either attached to the plate ring or to the already mounted film glued on a glue press . The motor of the respective level of the plate system is now controlled via the control of the rewinding table by means of a control cable and the film is thus wound up from the plate. The dismantling is done in the reverse order, whereby the driven side of the rewinding table is used and the rewinding table unwinds the film from the plate level.

In addition to the assembly and disassembly of film on plate systems, rewinding tables also allow the film to be simply rewound from one reel (or film core) to another. The difference to a film rewinder is that the film is guided horizontally on the rewinding table, but vertically on the rewinder.

In addition to the rewinding tables with two axes, there is also the design with only one (driven) axis, this is usually referred to as a winding table , and also winding frames in which the bobbin axis protrudes laterally from the table.
