The Büttel substation is a substation with an integrated converter station (as the landside end point of the HVDC HelWin 1 and 2 and SylWin 1 and 2 ) north of Büttel . The plant is owned by the transmission system operator Tennet TSO .

The station is used to feed electricity from offshore wind farms into the high-voltage network. For this, the HVDC lines of the wind farm clusters SylWin (voltage 320 kV) and HelWin (voltage 250 kV) converge on site.
