Underdog , also Underdog - The Super Dog , is an American animated series from 1964 to 1973. The series is about a dog with superpowers and was adapted as a live action film in 2007.

content

Underdog is a superhero parody. The cartoon dog Shoeshine Boy is actually the superhero underdog. When bad guys appear, Shoeshine Boy retreats to a phone booth to transform into the superhero and fight evil. Underdog, in contrast to his alter ego Shoeshine Boy, always speaks in rhymes.

Almost always involved in the evil's plans is Sweet Polly Purebred, a television reporter. Most of the time she calls underdog. Bad guys include Simon Bar Sinister, a mad scientist, his assistant Cad and Riff Raff, a gangster wolf.

Underdog must take the Underdog Super Energy Vitamin Pill to maintain his strength. He keeps these pills in a ring that he always carries with him. Many episodes show that once he loses the ring, he is powerless.
