Remarks

The polka was written for the carnival ball of the year 1857 of the artists' association Aurora and also premiered at this event. The work was very well received and played there later in the year, during the composer's second trip to Russia. The Russian audience was also enthusiastic about this polka. When Antal Doráti put together his ballet Graduation Ball based on motifs by Johann Strauss (son) in 1939 , parts of this polka were also used.

The playing time on the CD listed under itemization is 5 minutes and 29 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
