Infinite Expanse - A Spaceship Changes the World ( How William Shatner Changed the World or How Techies Changed the World with William Shatner ) is a documentation of the Discovery Channel Canada in cooperation with the History Channel and the British broadcaster Five . William Shatner , cast of Captain Kirk in Starship Enterprise , guides through the special and presents people who were inspired by Starship Enterprise and thus enabled advances in space travel as well as terrestrial engineering and technology.

Infinite Expanses - A Spaceship Changes the World was shown for the first time on German television on the Discovery Channel on June 4th and 5th, 2006 . The special was split up and shown on two evenings as a two-part documentary series. On September 25, 2006, the series ran for the first time on German free TV on DMAX .
On September 17 and 18, 2007, arte showed the two-part series as Expedition Space with the subsequent titles The Time of Departure and The Time of Darkness . kabel eins also repeated the series on May 20, 2009, this time under the title The Enterprise Files - A Spaceship Changes the World .
Awards
The documentary special was nominated for two Emmys and three Gemini Awards in 2006. He won the Gemini Award in the category Best Picture Editing in a Documentary Program or Series in 2006.
