Unger Island

Unger Island is a small and ice-free island off the Pennell coast of East Antarctica, Victoria . It is the westernmost of the Lyall Islands and is 6 km southeast of Cape Hooker off the western side of the entrance to Yule Bay .

The United States Geological Survey mapped them based on their own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1970 after Lieutenant Pat B. Unger (* 1931) of the US Navy Reserve Forces, Doctor on Little America V Ward in 1957.
