Unidad Popular is an alliance of left political parties in Uruguay founded in 2013 . The party alliance emerged from a split from the left-wing Frente Amplio , which the founders believed had taken over too many positions in the political center .

In the parliamentary elections in Uruguay in 2014 , the alliance achieved a share of 1.17 percent of the vote and moved with one member to the General Assembly of Uruguay . In the 2019 parliamentary elections , Unidad Popular narrowly failed with a 0.84 percent share of the vote because it was again able to join the General Assembly . The alliance announced in advance that it would not support anyone in a possible vote.
