The Union Chapel (fully Oak Bluffs Christian Union Chapel ) is a church building in Oak Bluffs in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It was completed in 1871 and inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
description
The building , designed by Samuel Pratt, who also built The Arcade , has an octagonal floor plan and has always been used by all denominations. In a way, it forms the counterpart to the tabernacle of the neighboring Methodist Camp Wesleyan Grove , accessible to believers of all religions , even though the church was built 8 years earlier.
In 2002 ownership was transferred to the Martha's Vineyard Preservation Trust , which restored the church and has since used it for worship services and as an arts and cultural center.
