The Unione Farmaceutica Distribuzione SA (UFD), based in Lugano is a provider in the healthcare logistics Swiss Medikamentengrossist. The company mainly operates in Ticino and supplies pharmacies , doctors , drugstores and hospitals with medicines and health products. UFD also operates two of its own pharmacies and has an independent IT division with its subsidiary Dauf SA, which was founded in 1984 . The UFD was founded in 1931 by a group of pharmacists from Ticino. The aim of this was to ensure that the pharmacies in Ticino were supplied with the drugs that were increasingly being produced on an industrial scale from the large production sites mostly north of the Alps. From this a regional logistician developed for the entire health industry.
