Unione Zoologica Italiana

The Unione Zoologica Italiana (UZI) is an Italian scientific society based at La Sapienza University in Rome . As a non-profit organization , it promotes general interest in zoology and the exchange between zoologists and represents their interests. It supports nature conservation in general and animal welfare in particular. Experts from the company provide advice to various government agencies.

The "Italian Zoological Union" was founded on April 22nd, 1900 in Pavia . In 1930 she began publishing the specialist journal Bollettino di Zoologia , which was renamed the Italian Journal of Zoology in 1996 . They also publish since 1987 as part of Collana UZI the Selected Symposia and Monographs and Problemi di Biologia e di Storia Naturale , in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment , the Checklist della Fauna Italiana and in collaboration with the Società Entomologica Italiana the Volumi della Fauna Italiana . Since its inception, the company has organized a number of congresses, meetings and seminars.

The Unione Zoologica Italiana is part of the umbrella organization Federazione Italiana Società Biologiche .
