The United Navigation GmbH was a 100-percent subsidiary of MairDumont group based in Ostfildern with Stuttgart .
In 1948 the Falk publishing house began with the patent-folded Falk city maps. Mobile navigation devices for vehicles and navigation devices for use outside the home followed later .
These business areas were merged in 2003 with an acquisition (Marco Polo New Media) to form Falk Marcopolo Interactive GmbH and from 2009 onwards were managed under the name Falk Navigation.
Since the acquisition of the trademark rights for the Becker navigation devices in 2010, the company has operated under the name United Navigation.
The company (brand names "Becker" and "Falk") was at times one of the three largest providers of mobile navigation systems, while it was the second largest manufacturer after Garmin for outdoor navigation systems . The main sales markets were Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands.
After unsuccessful self-administration proceedings , the company has been insolvent since April 1, 2017 . Free map updates are no longer offered since March 2018.
