The Associate Attorney General of the United States is the third senior officer in the US Department of Justice . He advises and assists the United States Attorney General and his deputy in political matters. He is appointed by the President of the United States with the approval of the Senate . The current incumbent is acting Claire McCusker Murray .

founding

The Office of the Attorney General Associate (OASG) was established by the Minister of Justice by Order No. 699-77 on March 10, 1977.

tasks

In addition to the policy advice the Minister of Justice and deputy of the Associate Attorney shall exercise general the supervision over various judicial institutions, in particular the departments of the US Department of Justice for civil, civil rights, antitrust, tax, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
