United States Marine Corps Forces Pacific
The United States Marine Corps Forces Pacific ( MarForPac ) is a corps of the United States Marine Corps , which is subordinate to the United States Pacific Command . Commanding general has been Lieutenant General Keith J. Stalder since August 22, 2008 . About 84,000 marines belong to the large association.
The commando is based at Camp HM Smith on Oahu , Hawaii . The US Marine Corps Forces Pacific consists of the Marine Air-Ground Task Forces (MAGTF)

- III. Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF).
The MarForPac are the greatest command of the US Marine Corps and are subject to joint forces internally ( subordinate command ) of the Fleet Marine Force , Pacific (FMFPac) - a total command of the US Navy and US Marine Corps. The motto is Forward ... from the sea (German: Vorwärts ... from seaward ).
Marine Forces Pacific was assigned to the Pacific and Indian Oceans, the China Sea and smaller neighboring waters ( Pacific Theater ) as the spatial area of responsibility . Functionally, the command is responsible for amphibious landings ( amphibious actions ) and other typical types of operations. Spatially, MarForPac works together with components from other branches of the armed forces, mainly parts of the component command US Army Pacific (excluding Korea), the US Pacific Fleet , the Pacific Air Forces and various Special Operations Commands .
The Marine Forces Pacific also took part in combat operations in the Middle East, such as Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom . Some Marine Expeditionary Units are floating units with no dedicated ships.
