United States Naval Special Warfare Command

The United States Naval Special Warfare Command ( NAVSPECWARCOM , NAVSOC or NSW ; German Naval Command for Special Warfare of the United States ) is the command command for the special forces of the US Navy . The command is subordinate to the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and was set up on April 16, 1987 at the Coronado naval base near San Diego in the US state of California . As a maritime part of the US Special Operations Command, it ensures the constant readiness, training and availability of the subordinate units for operations around the world. According to official information (as of 2010), the workforce amounts to 5,400 men, of which 2,450 are Navy SEALs and 600 are Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC).

The Naval Special Warfare Center ( NSW or The Center ), the training and further education facility for Navy SEALs and support units at the Coronado naval base, also belongs to the NAVSOC .

The following units are under the command: For the transport of the Navy SEALs, the respective logistics units of the task forces have patrol boats, special boats and small submarines (“SEAL Delivery Vehicle”).
