from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Universal dilution - also commercially available as universal-nitro-dilution or synthetic resin diluent - is that for diluting a liquid and, dissolving of alkyd resin and nitrocellulose lacquer is used in particular for cleaning paint brushes and other brushes. Components are organic solvents such as ketones , esters , alcohols , aromatic and other hydrocarbons .

The part of the name Universal refers to the fact that the agent is suitable for alkyd resin and nitro lacquers and can therefore replace a special nitro thinner; but in no way does it mean that it is suitable for any varnish or paint.

Universal Thinner usually has an intense odor and often contains components that are harmful to health. Good ventilation should be provided indoors. Universal thinner embrittles or loosens plastic parts .
