Moscow is a hamlet in East Ayrshire in south-west Scotland . Moscow is located on the A719 from Glasgow to Galston about seven kilometers northeast of Kilmarnock .
history
The origins of remarkable for a Scottish village name Moscow ( German Moscow ) are not known. The name is believed to have originated from a falsification of the Anglo-Norman words Moss-hall or Moss-haw. Attempts to establish a connection to Peter the Great or the Crimean War have so far been unsuccessful. It is known, however, that the small watercourse near Moscows was deliberately renamed Volga (like the Russian river Volga or Volga ) . This renaming is a parody and is related to Napoleon's withdrawal from the Russian capital in 1812 .
Economy and Infrastructure
Like many settlements in the Lowlands East Ayrshires, Moscow has a predominantly agricultural past. And although agriculture is still practiced here, Moscow is now primarily home to commuters who work in Kilmarnock or Glasgow.
