The University of Yaoundé I ( French : Université de Yaoundé I ) is one of the largest universities in Cameroon . It was created in 1993 after a university reform that dissolved the University of Yaoundé, founded in 1962, and created the University of Yaoundé I and the University of Yaoundé II .

Faculties and campuses

Building of the science faculty

There are three faculties:

  • the Faculty of Arts, Languages ​​and Human Sciences ( Faculté des Arts, Lettres et Sciences Humaines , FALSH for short)
  • the Faculty of Sciences ( Faculté des Sciences , shortly FS)
  • the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences ( Faculté de Médecine et de Sciences Biomédicales , FMSB for short)

The university is spread over five campuses . The main campus in the Ngoa-Ekelle district includes the Rector's Office, FALSH, FS, the central library and the University Center for Information Technology ( Center Universitaire des Technologies de l'Information , CUTI for short). The École Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique (ENSP) and the FMSB are right next to the Ngoa-Ekelle campus. There is also the campus of the École normal supérieure , the Nkolbisson campus on which the Center for Biotechnology ( Center de Biotechnologie , or CBT) is located, and the Bambili campus with part of the École normal (the École Normale Supérieure Annexe de Bambili , or ENSAB).
