The Regensburg University Archives (proper name: UAR ) is a central institution of the University of Regensburg . As a public archive , it serves research and teaching at the university, its self-administration and legal safeguards.
Assignments and history
The central task of the university archive is to archive the documents that are dispensable for day-to-day operations but are worth archiving. Archiving covers different areas. The basis is the Bavarian Archives Act, which assigns the establishment of archives to the state's universities as a task of self-administration. On July 8, 2004, the Senate of the University of Regensburg approved the statutes of the University Archives in Regensburg. In it, all institutions, faculties, institutes, chairs and relatives belonging to the university are obliged to offer the old documents they no longer need to the university archive for transfer.
The head of the archive is the university archivist Andreas Becker.
