Albrecht P. Luttenberger

Albrecht Pius Luttenberger (born April 30, 1946 in Neu-Bamberg ) is a German historian .

Albrecht Luttenberger was born the son of a wine grower. Luttenberger studied German and history at the University of Mainz . He then taught at the state Lina-Hilger-Gymnasium in Bad Kreuznach . Since the winter semester of 1973 he was a research assistant at the University of Mainz. From 1978 to 1983 Luttenberger was a member of the historical commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and was entrusted with the editing of the Regensburger Reichstag of 1541 for the edition project Deutsche Reichsakten, Younger Series . In 1980 he did his doctorate with Hermann Weber in Mainz with the thesis Conceptions and ways of denominational imperial politics 1530–1552 . From 1983 to 1989, Luttenberger was a university assistant in Mainz. His habilitation took place in Mainz on political leadership and peacekeeping under Ferdinand I and Maximilian II. He had a teaching position at the University of Passau . This was followed by professorships at the Universities of Bonn and Munich . Luttenberger taught from the summer semester 1993 until his retirement in the summer semester 2011 as a professor for modern history at the University of Regensburg . From 1995 to 1999 he was head of the Graduate School Regional Identity and Political Integration . From 1997 to 2000 and again from 2008 to 2009 he was dean of the Philosophical Faculty in Regensburg. From 2002 to 2004 he was a member of the Senate of the University of Regensburg. On the occasion of his 65th birthday, he was honored with a commemorative publication in 2011.

Luttenberger researched the early modern history of the empire for decades. His work brought a better understanding of the political-communicative procedural and action patterns in the 16th and 17th centuries. In numerous individual studies, Luttenberger conducted extensive research into the Regensburg Reichstag of 1541.
