University College (University of Hamburg)

The University College has been an institution of the University of Hamburg since 2012 . It is financially supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the “Teaching Quality Pact” .

Funding phases

First funding phase: 2012 to 2016

In the first funding phase (2012 to 2016), the University College set itself the task of organizing the transition from school to university for those interested in academic training . It submitted various kinds of measures in this regard. Study counseling , aptitude tests and preliminary and bridging courses were carried out . The institution also offered a student degree program and mentoring / mentoring programs . The intention was to enable students to successfully complete their studies with the help of these measures.

Second funding phase: 2017 to 2020

Since 2017 the university college has received further funding from the BMBF as a "model experiment Universitätskolleg 2.0" . In addition to the introductory phase, the second funding phase (2017 to 2020) focuses on the entire student life cycle. The aim is to further develop the offers and formats and to anchor them step-by-step in the university. These are and were developed by the university college staff in cooperation with lecturers and students at the University of Hamburg. For example, writing projects, writing workshops were and are part of the catalog of measures. In order to communicate the experiences made across universities, the university college regularly organizes events and issues publications, including the college messenger .
