The University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) (mal. Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia) in Batu Pahat in the state of Johor is a state university in Malaysia founded in 1993 . The university is named after Hussein Onn , Malaysia's third Prime Minister .
history
Today's university was founded in 1993 as Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP) . The school's task was to train teachers for technical professions. The training facility was administered by the Ministry of Education and the Technical University of Malaysia . In 1996 the school was upgraded to the Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO) and in 2000 it received the status of a "University College". The college grew very rapidly in the following years and was therefore appointed a university by the government in 2006 and received its current name in 2007.

The university's chancellor is an honorary post and is filled by a well-known personality, while the university's full-time management is headed by the vice-chancellor .
