Unjha is a city in the Indian state of Gujarat .

The city is the part of the Mehsana District . Unjha has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 12 wards (constituencies).

Demographics

The population of the city is 57,108 according to the 2011 census. Unjha has a gender ratio of 919 women per 1000 men and thus a common surplus of men for India. The literacy rate was 90.8% in 2011. Almost 98% of the population are Hindus , around 2% are Jainas and less than 1% belong to another or no religion. 9.9% of the population are children under 6 years of age.

Unjha is known as the largest spice and cumin market in Asia and one of the largest regulated markets in all of India. Farmers and traders from states like Rajasthan and Gujarat come to the Unjha market to trade and sell spices
