history
The publishing house was founded in 1996 as "Verlag Unterlauf" by radio director Gerda Zschiedrich and radio journalist Ulrich Unterlauf with the idea of tapping into new audiences through the medium of audio books of classical literature. As speakers were u. a. Martina Gedeck , Gunter Schoß , Peter Sodann , Marie Gruber and Jaecki Schwarz . In 2006 the Unterlauf publishing house was merged with Unterlauf & Zschiedrich Hörbuchverlag . Alexander Zschiedrich has been the sole owner since January 1st, 2007 .

The main focus of the publishing program is hiking. In addition to classic travel literature penned by Heinrich Heine , Adalbert Stifter and Theodor Fontane , the publishing house also has “Literary Hikes” in its range, which are dedicated to contemporary hiking. With quotes and anecdotes from poets and painters who were inspired by the environment and travel experience on the respective routes, the "literary walks" were created.
