Unterriffingen is a district of the city of Bopfingen . The hamlet of Oberriffingen and the Ungnad homestead belong to the village .

Unterriffingen is about four kilometers southwest of the main town of Bopfingen. The place is on the L1080 road and on the K3298 county road.
history
Due to the ending -ingen, the name reveals an Alemannic foundation and a clan leader named Ruffo or similar.
The place is mentioned as Ruringen as early as the 8th century , but this is probably prescribed and should be called Rufingen . The Fulda monastery was wealthy during this time. In 1311 a local nobility with a nobleman Georg von Rüffingen is mentioned. Later the Schenkenstein taverns were the main owners of both Riffingen (Unter- and Oberriffingen), they also carried part of the property of the Ellwangen Monastery as a fief . In the 15th century the lords of Zipplingen and the Teutonic Order of Kapfenburg were wealthy. Later, many parts of the village fell to the County of Oettingen and thus in 1806 to Bavaria . In 1810 the place came to the Kingdom of Württemberg and belonged to the village of Dorfmerkingen until the church was founded in 1833 . In 1975 the community was dissolved and incorporated into the city of Bopfingen.
In earlier times the hamlet of Michelfeld belonged to the municipality of Unterriffingen, but was changed to the municipality of Aufhausen . The town of Weidendorf, which is now lost, was located in the district southeast of Unterriffingen .
