The Uncial 053 (numbered after Gregory-Aland ; von Soden A 4 ) is a Greek uncial manuscript of the New Testament , which is dated to the 9th century using paleography . It contains parts of the Gospel of Luke (1.1–2.40) with comments on 14 sheets of parchment (27.5 × 23 cm). The code was described in three columns with 42 lines per page. It is one of the few codices that was described in three columns per page (other manuscripts: Codex Vaticanus , Codex Vaticanus Graecus 2061 ).

The manuscript is now in Munich in the Bavarian State Library (Gr. 208, fol. 235–248).

The Greek text of the Codex represents the Byzantine text type . Aland classified him in Category V with some reluctance .
