Urbanus (Emperor)
Urbanus († around 272 ) was one of the numerous usurpers (counter-emperors) during the imperial crisis in the Roman Empire of the 3rd century AD.
According to the report of a historical source, the historian Zosimos ( Neue Geschichte 1,49,2), he rose to the rank of emperor around 271/272. Around the same time that the empire was threatened by heavy fighting against Vandals , Juthungen and Sarmatians , other usurpers appeared ( Domitianus , Septimius ). Urbanus was quickly killed by the troops of the established emperor Aurelian . Modern research does not exclude that the Urban rebellion is just an invention.
