Urdolmen from Neu Gaarz
The Urdolmen of Neu Gaarz in the municipality of Rerik in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is a north-south oriented dolmen with a 1.9 m long corridor with the Sprockhoff no. 326. The complex was built between 3500 and 2800 BC. BC as a megalithic system of the funnel beaker culture (TBK) and lies in a field on the road from Rerik to the district of Meschendorf, about 1.2 km behind Rerik.
The chamber of the megalithic of New Gaarz is 2.8 m long, 1.5 m wide and 1.3 m in height for a Simple dolmen , which is characterized by the lateral position of its supporting stones, exceptionally large (the largest known Simple dolmen).
The inclined corridor, which is unusually long for Urdolmen, is also a special feature. It is 1.9 m long, about 0.8 m wide and just as high and consisted of four bearing stones and two cap stones, which are now next to the corridor. Originally the chamber and corridor were covered by a round stone mound. There are eight bowls on the only capstone of the chamber and 12 bowls on one of the three bearing stones .
During the archaeological investigation by Ewald Schuldt in 1967 , six pieces of broken glass, two blades , two cross-cutters , a shoulder vessel and a flat ax were found.
