Martin Galling

Martin Galling (* 1935 in Halle / Saale ) is a German pianist and chamber musician.

Galling first received cello lessons, from 1945 piano lessons at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz with Louise Wandel. He studied at the University of Mainz with G. Raphael (counterpoint) and G. Kehr (chamber music and musicology). In 1956 he was in Hans Leygraf's master class . This was followed by concerts in Germany and tours through Western Europe, the USA, Israel and Japan. During his career he was involved in recordings of the most important composers of the Classical and Romantic periods. Galling was a soloist on numerous tours of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra under Karl Münchinger and worked a lot with Helmuth Rilling . From 1970 to 2000 he was professor for chamber music at the Saarland University of Music . In 2003 he founded the piano duo Galling-Olivieri with his partner Karin Olivieri.
