Urschum pig
The Urschumer pig ( Russian Уржумская , transcribed Urschumskaja ) is a meat pig breed from Russia .
Breeding history
The breed was developed near the town of Urschum in Kirov Oblast by crossing indigenous sows with Boars of the Large White breed . In 1957 the breed was officially recognized.

There are 15 boar lines and 15 sow families.
Occurrence
The breed is mainly kept in Kirov , Kostroma and Moscow oblasts and also in Mari El , Udmurtia and Tatarstan in Russia . In 1980 the total was 39,900 purebred animals.
