Ursicinus († between 610 and 630 in Saint-Ursanne , Canton Jura , Switzerland) was a hermit in the 7th century and is a saint. He is also known under the name forms Ursinus and St. Ursitz .

According to legend, Ursicinus was a monk and student of Columban in the Luxeuil monastery and retired to a hermitage in the Doubs valley around the year 610. Whether he was actually a student of Columban cannot be proven historically, because Ursicinus is not mentioned in the life vita of St. Columban. Abbot Germanus von Moutier-Grandval built a church in his honor near Grandval / Moutier (before 675). Thus Ursicinus must have been venerated as early as the 7th century.

The monastery and town of Saint-Ursanne were built over his grave on the banks of the Doubs .

His feast day is July 24th or December 20th .
