Ursinus of Constance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ursinus von Konstanz (* in the 6th century ; † 7th century ) was Bishop of Konstanz from approx. 589 to 600.

In Vindonissa the bishops Bubulcus (517 first bishop of Windisch), Grammatius and Ursinus are attested. According to a building inscription in Vindonissa (today Windisch ), the diocese was moved from Windisch to Constance on Lake Constance in 590.

Ursinus ("Ursinos ebescubus" or "Ursinus episcopus") was Bishop of Constance probably from the end of the 6th century to the beginning of the 7th century, perhaps from 589 to 600.

A building and / or dedicatory inscription that can be found today in the choir of the Reformed Church in Windisch reads: "In onore Sc Martini eep Ursinos ebescubus (it) Detibaldus + Linculfus ficit".
