Ursula Bagdasarjanz (* 1934 in Winterthur ) is a Swiss violinist .

Career

The daughter of Samuel Bagdasarjanz, of Armenian and Swiss origin, who emigrated from Romania, and of the violinist Margrit Bagdasarjanz-Weiss of Austrian and Swiss origin, received her first violin lessons from her mother at the age of five. In 1944, at the age of ten, she gave her first concert (Beethoven's Romance in F major). Her teachers were Aida Stucki in Winterthur (1944–1953), Marcel Reynal at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris from 1953–1956, where she received the diploma “Premier prix de violon” in 1956 . She then studied with Sándor Végh in 1957 and 1958 . She attended master classes with Joseph Calvet and Max Rostal . When Ursula Bagdasarjanz took lessons from her violin teacher Aida Stucki, she in turn was a student of the violin teacher Carl Flesch , so that she became familiar with the Carl Flesch scale system as a child.

Ursula Bagdasarjanz's career as a soloist and in chamber music was characterized by intensive concert activity. She sat down u. a. for the Swiss composer Othmar Schoeck by performing his violin works (including a complete recording of the violin sonatas with Gisela Schoeck, the composer's daughter, at the piano).

Concert performances 1956–1982

Before Ursula Bagdasarjanz started her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris, she won first prize at the “Concours Bellan”. During her studies, her first radio recording took place at Radio Paris-Inter, where she later made several other recordings. After completing her studies in Paris, she returned to Switzerland. She has made guest appearances in Spain, Germany and Finland, where she was a soloist with the Turku City Orchestra. In Switzerland she has appeared repeatedly as a soloist, for example with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Winterthur City Orchestra (in Winterthur, Glarus and Uster), with the St. Gallen City Orchestra, the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana and the Aarau, Solothurn and Olten city orchestras . She gave violin recitals and recitals abroad and in Switzerland. Radio recordings were made in Zurich, Lugano, Paris and Berlin. Ursula Bagdasarjanz appeared in a TV documentary by ZDF and was a member of the jury for the Tonhalle competition in Zurich. She was invited to Romania in July 2001, 2002 and 2004 to give master classes for violin in Târgu Mureș . She was also a member of the jury in the Constantin Silvestri music competition. Ursula Bagdasarjanz gave an interview for Radio Bucureşti.
