Ursula Daus (born March 10, 1953 in Lake Constance district ) is a German sociologist and architecture critic.

Life

Ursula Daus studied architecture in Constance and sociology as well as economics at the Free University of Berlin with a diploma on metropolitan images in Asia. The Metro-Manila Case (1985). She carried out numerous research and foreign projects in Sao Paulo, Manila, Singapore, Honolulu and Cape Town on topics such as “Urban Sociology in Developing Countries”, “Design History of the 20th Century in Southern Africa”, “Development History of the Tourism Industry in the Indian Ocean”, “Images of metropolises in Southeast Asia and Latin America ”and“ Design and Architectural History of Japan in the 18th – 20th centuries. Century".

From 1980 to 1990 she was editor of the magazine Daidalos-Architektur Kunst Kultur . Since 1997 she has been editor-in-chief of Kosmopolis - Interkulturelle Zeitschrift from Berlin . Since 2012 she has been researching and publishing together with Ronald Daus on issues of European colonialism and post-colonialism in Asia , Oceania , Latin America and Africa .

In addition to her book publications, numerous publications have appeared in the journals Bauwelt , Baumeister , Kyoto Journal , Lettre International , Mare and the scientific journal Neue Romania , which is published on behalf of the Institute for Romance Philology at the Free University of Berlin .
