Ursula Heindrichs

Ursula Heindrichs , née Wiegers (born July 3, 1928 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German Germanist , educator and fairy tale researcher ; since 2001 honorary president of the European Fairy Tale Society .

Life

Born in Gelsenkirchen in 1928 , studied German, history, philosophy and education in Freiburg, Innsbruck and Bonn; 1956 Dissertation: The fountain in the German poetry - a motif historical study (published in 1957 under the name Ursula Wiegers).

1957 first and 1959 second state examination; since then without interruption until 1991 as a teacher at the Ricarda-Huch-Gymnasium Gelsenkirchen (a Unesco-Gymnasium), most recently as Director of Studies (subjects: German and History). Since 1958 married to Heinz-Albert Heindrichs (composer, poet, painter; professor at the University and the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen).

Services

From 1982 to 1989 she was Vice-President and from 1989 to 2001 President of the European Fairy Tale Society , since 2001 she has been its Honorary President. From 1985 to 2001 she was a member of the board of trustees of the Walter Kahn Fairy Tale Foundation (since it was founded). From 1993 to 2001 member of the board of trustees of the Associazione Culturale Italo-Tedesca (ACIT). In 1982 she founded the “Society for the Rescue of Poetry in Nonsense” (honorary members: Erich Fried and Eugène Ionesco ). In 1991 she donated the Gingko Prize to promote literary work by students.

Awards

In 1992 she received the Citizens' Prize of the City of Gelsenkirchen, in 1992 the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and in 1998 the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class . In 2001 she and her husband were awarded the European Fairy Tale Prize.
