Ursula Meyer (born July 22, 1947 in Königstein im Taunus ) is a German author of crime novels .

Life

She was born as Ursula Krüger, graduated from high school in Cologne-Bayenthal in 1966 and began studying Romance languages ​​and geography at the University of Cologne in 1966 . In 1971 she passed the first state examination here. She initially worked as a research assistant at the Romance Studies seminar at the University of Cologne, and from 1973 as a trainee teacher at the Koblenz study seminar. After her second state examination in 1974, she taught at the Nonnenwerth grammar school until she moved to Vienna with her husband in February 1975. In the 1980/81 winter semester, she began studying French and Spanish Philology and Philosophy at the University of Vienna . In 1982 she received her doctorate from the University of Cologne with a thesis on the French writer Albertine Sarrazin .

Since 1998 Meyer has been writing a series of regional crime stories about Commissioner Sieglinde Züricher from the Mordkommission of the Münster criminal investigation department. Characteristics of the novels are always a business trip from Zurich and a literary motif. In addition to the crime story, Zurich's private life is also discussed, for example the tense relationship with her husband or problems with her daughter Kerstin. The characters in each book age according to real time.

Ursula Meyer is a member of the "authors' group of German-language crime literature" - The Syndicate and of the Sisters in Crime . She is married, has two daughters and lives alternately in Münster and Vienna.
