Ursula Monheim

Ursula Monheim (* 10. December 1939 in Münster as Ursula Wippo ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 1995 to 2010 she was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

Monheim graduated from high school in 1959 and then studied English and Russian at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. In 1965 she passed the First State Examination and then worked from 1966 to 1969 as a research assistant at the University of Münster in the English Department. Then she retired from her job to take care of her family. Ursula Monheim is Catholic, married and has three children.

politics

Monheim has been a member of the CDU since 1988. From 1991 to 2003 she was deputy district chairwoman of the CDU in Leverkusen until she became district chairwoman in 2003. She was re-elected in 2005, 2007 and 2009. From 1999 to 2003 she was a member of the CDU state executive committee and has been again since 2005. In 1995, she moved into the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for the first time. In the 2005 state elections, she won a direct seat in the constituency of Leverkusen and was a member of the Committee on Labor, Health and Social Affairs and a member of the Committee on Women's Policy. In 2010 she was no longer nominated for election.

Volunteering

Ursula Monheim was Schulpflegschafts chairman of Marie school in Opladen . From 1990 to 2006 she headed the Leverkusen Catholic Council . She was deputy chairwoman of the Diocesan Council of Cologne and a member of the Central Committee of German Catholics and, since 1999, of the federal board of donum vitae .

As the chairwoman of the Wort und Tat eV association, she was instrumental in setting up a mother-child house with an integrated day-care center in Leverkusen- Wiesdorf , in order to enable pregnant women in particular to make a decision about their child. She also made a major contribution to the realization of "Haus Maurinus" in Lützenkirchen , a residential building for people with disabilities sponsored by the Caritas Association .

Awards

In 2004 she was awarded the Paulinchen Order , in 2005 she received the Federal Cross of Merit .
