Ursula Schaar

Ursula Schaar (born August 30, 1923 in Berlin ; † April 28, 2005 ) was a German educator and state politician ( AL , then Die Grünen ). She was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 1981 to 1983.

biography

Ursula Schaar came from a working class family in Neukölln. She completed a teacher training course, worked as a primary school teacher and was involved in the education and science union. She was the mother of Peter Schaar, who was elected Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in 2003 by the German Bundestag .

politics

After the Second World War, Ursula Schaar joined the SPD, to which she belonged until the 1960s. As one of the few from the then older generation, she joined the Alternative List and later the Berlin State Association of the Greens, of which she was part of the federal board. In 1981 she was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives, to which she was a member of her parliamentary group's school policy spokesperson for half a legislative period. She retired on February 24, 1983 by rotation and was replaced by Jürgen Wachsmuth .
