from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ursula "Ursel" Trabalski (born October 11, 1921 in Leipzig ; † August 10, 1992 in Switzerland ) was a German local politician ( SPD ).

Life

Her political activity began in 1951 when she joined the SPD. From 1961 she was the first woman to chair a local SPD association in Düsseldorf-Gerresheim . In 1975 she was elected to the city council in the Gerresheim-Süd district, where she sat until 1984, with 59.33 percent of the votes cast.

The focus of her political work was on urban planning, especially the development of the Gerresheimer Süd, in which she herself lived. In the 1970s, Trabalski made it his business to make this somewhat neglected district with its old housing stock and the declining population more attractive for the future through renovation measures.

As a council member, she was very active in leading various committees. Above all, the committees for planning and urban development were important because they were able to actively promote the improvement of their district. This was later honored by Ursula-Trabalski-Straße . She also worked on the culture, complaints and school committee. Here, too, she received recognition through projects that brought about lasting change.

Ursula Trabalski died of a heart attack while on vacation with her husband Karl Trabalski . Due to the Swiss rescue system at the time, the arrival of an emergency doctor took almost an hour.

Volunteering

Trabalski worked as a district chairwoman in the workers' welfare organization until her death. After that, her husband Karl took over the chairmanship. She also worked on the boards of directors of the “Deutsche Oper am Rhein” and the “Landesmuseum Volk und Wirtschaft”.
