Ursuline Convent Duderstadt

The Ursuline Convent Duderstadt is a convent of Ursuline in Duderstadt in southern Lower Saxony in the diocese of Hildesheim .

history

In 1700 the monastery in Duderstadt was founded by Erfurt Ursulines. It should serve the upbringing and education of young girls in northern Eichsfeld .

Between 1735 and 1740 the monastery was expanded. The monastery today consists of several parts of the building: the convent building, the Liebfrauenkirche , newly built between 1889 and 1890 , a guest area and a garden. The monastery buildings connected to the church were built in half-timbered style.

During the last renovation of the Church of Our Lady in 2007, the bones of the founder and first superior of the Duderstadt convent, mother Clara-Eugenia von Ebelsbach, were found in the foundations of the apse . Now they have the relaxation room in the apse as a burial place .

In the guest area, guests can participate in the monastery life for a while, attend seminars and organize conferences . In addition, there are regular cultural readings , concerts and lectures .

In 2016, the convent converted the entire monastery into a foundation .
