Uta Frommater (born December 12, 1948 in Oldenburg ) is a former German swimmer who won an Olympic bronze medal in the individual relay relay in 1968.

Career

Uta Frommater swam for SV 02 Oldenburg . As early as 1964 she took part in the domestic German Olympic qualifications. In 1965 she won her first German championship on the 200-meter chest course. In 1967 , 1968 and 1969 she won the championship title on both the 100-meter chest distance and the 200-meter distance.

At the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968 , the German 4 x 100 meter individual medley relay with the cast Angelika Kraus , Uta Frommater, Heike Hustede and Heidemarie Reineck won bronze in 4: 36.4 minutes behind the relays from the USA and Australia . Two days later, Uta Frommater, fourth in the 100-meter chest final, missed the bronze medal after 1: 16.2 minutes by 0.1 seconds. In 1970 at the European Championships, the German layer relay won bronze in the same line-up as in 1968; Frommater won over 100 meters in 1: 16.9 silver behind Galina Stepanova .

On November 27, 1968, she was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for her athletic achievements.
