Life

Ute Steilmann is a trained business economist in retail. She is a graduate of the textile school in Nagold. In 1994 she joined her father Klaus Steilmann's company , the Wattenscheid Steilmann Group . Until then, she held various positions in purchasing and sales at various companies, such as the Otto mail order company and in the Italian Miroglio Group. From 1995 she took over responsibility for the "Skirt" department in the family business, which in 1997 was merged with the "Trousers" and "Blouse" departments on her initiative. Since 1998 she has been part of the management of the Steilmann Group.

In 2003 the Steilmann Group ran into economic difficulties, which were overcome with the dismissal of approx. 750 employees and the entry of the Italian Miro Radici Group, based in Bergkamen , which took over around half of the shares. At the same time, after her sister Britta Steilmann's retirement, Ute Steilmann took over her role as management spokesperson and operational responsibility for product and design.

In September 2006, Ute Steilmann announced an application for bankruptcy for the company, which until then had around 500 employees. This was averted in October 2006 by the complete takeover of all Steilmann shares by the Radici Group. Ute Steilmann lost her position in the company.
