Uvdloriaĸ Løvstrøm

Hans Mathias Uvdloriaĸ Løvstrøm [ hans maˈtiːas ˈuɬːɔʁiɑq ˈløu̯sdʁɶm ] (born August 23, 1936 in Savissivik ; † July 13, 2015 ) was a Greenlandic local politician ( Siumut ) and trade unionist .

Life

Uvdloriaĸ Løvstrøm was the son of Ûssarĸak (1913–1937) and his wife Anna Lia Nicoline Løvstrøm (1902–1984). Through his father he was a nephew of Inuutersuaq Ulloriaq (1906-1986). His aunt Navarana was the wife of polar explorer Peter Freuchen . He married the auxiliary nurse Louise Trolle (* 1938) on March 13, 1960.

Uvdloriaĸ worked from 1955 to 1980 as an engine assistant and then from 1980 to 1984 as a machinist. From 1959 to 1961 he was chairman of the Greenland Blue Cross . From 1965 to 1983 he was chairman of the local association of Grønlands Arbejder Sammenslutning . He first ran for a place in Grønlands Landsråd in 1971 , but was not given a place. In 1979 he ran for the first Inatsisartut , but was also unable to achieve a seat in parliament. In 1983 he ran for local elections and was a member of the Uummannaq parish council . He was then appointed first deputy mayor. When Mayor Karl Møller resigned the following year, Uvdloriaĸ was elected as his successor. He remained mayor for 13 years until 1997 when he no longer received enough votes from the local council in the mayoral election.

On October 2nd, 2003 he received the Nersornaat in silver.
