Uwe Greiner (born August 8, 1959 in Stuttgart ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .

Career

He started playing football at STV Bad Cannstatt and later moved to VfB Stuttgart , where he was the substitute goalkeeper behind Helmut Roleder . He played his first professional game on October 6, 1979, when he was substituted on for the injured Roleder in the 2-1 home defeat to Borussia Dortmund . As a result, he was the remainder of the first half of the 1979/80 season in goal. In the following season, Greiner played another 15 games for VfB, before he moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 1981 and became a regular goalkeeper there. After the 1982/83 season, his contract was not extended there.

In the second half of the 1983/1984 season he played 13 games in the Oberliga Berlin for Tennis Borussia Berlin.

At the end of his professional career, Uwe Greiner joined Fortuna Düsseldorf and played a further 42 Bundesliga games there from 1984 to 1986.
