life and career

Jertschewski came to the GDR league team Motor Suhl in 1983 . The 1.76 m tall locksmith had previously played for TSG Gröditz , most recently in the second-rate GDR league. At the age of 20 he was accepted into the GDR league team during the 1983/84 season with the Suhler Betriebssportgemeinschaft (BSG), played 16 league games with her and was once successful as a goalscorer. So he had a partial share in the team's rise to the top division. Jertschewskis start in the league season 1984/85 began as a substitute player. Up to the eleventh day of play, he was called up by coach Ernst Kurth only three times in the starting line-up, in the remaining eight league games he was only substituted on.

It was not until the 12th match day that he was always in the team from the start and was usually used as a right defender, although coach Kurth had nominated him as a striker before the start of the season. In this way, Jertschewski completed all 26 point games, but without scoring a goal. As a defender, he was responsible for the fact that Motor Suhl had the worst goal record of all fourteen league teams with 92 goals conceded at the end of the season and had to leave the league again after a year, far behind. After relegation, Jertschewski played five seasons at Motor Suhl in the GDR league. He left the team during the 1989/90 season.
