Uwe Möller

Uwe Möller (* 1935 in Hamburg ) is a German economist.

He studied economics in Hamburg from 1955 to 1959 and joined the International Institute for Politics and Economics Haus Rissen in 1960 ; from 1983 to 1998 he was its director. From 1986 to 2013 he was a member of the Club of Rome and announced his resignation at the annual conference in Bucharest with the words that it was time to make room for the younger generation. From 1999 to the end of 2007 he was the honorary Secretary General of the global organization based in Hamburg. During this time he worked closely with the then chairman, Prince Hassan ibn Talal . When the Club of Rome moved its headquarters to Winterthur, Uwe Möller handed this office over to Martin Lees.

1992–1998 he was also chairman of the German Society for the Club of Rome . He is honorary president to this day and plays a key role in the “ Club of Rome Schools Germany” project.

Möller was u. a. Chairman of the Academy for Politics, Economy and Culture in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ( Schwerin ) and is deputy chairman of the advisory committee of the Edmund Siemers Foundation (Hamburg). He is also chairman of the ECS advisory committee (Hamburg) and a member of various other committees. He is one of the earliest supporters of the Global Marshall Plan Initiative .

Up to his 80th birthday, he still explained the grievances and dangers in this world in numerous lectures and encouraged himself to work for a better world. Today he only does this occasionally on more internal occasions.
