Uwe Maibaum

Uwe Maibaum (* 1962 in Trier ) is a German church musician.

Life

Maibaum was born in Trier as the son of a teacher and an educator. After graduating from high school in 1982, she studied Protestant church music at the University of Music in Cologne and graduated in 1987 with the A-exam in order to then study baroque and classical bassoon and harpsichord . During this time he worked with Philippe Herreweghe and the Concerto Köln and made his first CD recordings as a baroque bassoonist with them. He was a co-founder of the baroque ensemble La Stravaganza Cologne . From 1991 to 2006 Maibaum was cantor of the Salvatorkirche in Duisburg and directed the Lower Rhine Vocal Ensemble Duisburg . At the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, he was a lecturer for percussion technique (conducting) and ensemble management between 1992 and 2002.

On April 1, 2007 he was appointed regional church music director of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck . He is organist at the Lutheran parish church of St. Marien in Marburg. International concerts have taken him to different countries in Europe and other continents.

Maibaum is married and has three sons and a daughter.
