Uwe Meinicke (born October 11,  1955 in Wolfsburg ) is a former German boxer . He was German light heavyweight professional boxer champion.

Life

Meinicke's first fight as a professional boxer ended in defeat, he was defeated in May 1974 in the Lübeck Hansehalle Herbert Wick on points. After ten fights, Meinicke had a record of four wins and six defeats, but twice he lost to Louis Pergaud from Cameroon , who at that time had become the main fighter at the Hamburg organizer Wilfrid Schulz . In the second duel between the two, which took place in a tent on the Heiligengeistfeld in Hamburg in October 1977 , Meinicke knocked the Cameroonian to the ground, “but referee Tomser did not want the boxing artist to perish in the dust. He took his time before he started counting, and was not exactly the fastest ”, reported the Hamburger Abendblatt . Pergaud could also have been counted in this scene, according to Manager Schulz. Meinicke then later lost the fight by breaking off in the eighth round.

In April 1980 Meinicke was  German light heavyweight champion by a demolition victory over Helmut Ulka . At the end of September of the same year he boxed in Cologne at the first event that Wilfried Sauerland held  in Germany, where he was defeated by the later Commonwealth master Chisanda Mutti  from Zambia . Meinicke defended his German championship title in June 1981 by winning points over Horst Lang in his hometown of Cologne. At the end of April 1982 he lost the title after losing to Manfred Jassmann . That was Meinicke's last fight as a professional boxer.

During his career Meinicke fought several fights abroad, he boxed in Belgium , France , Luxembourg , the Netherlands , Austria and South Africa .
