Uwe Schweikert

Uwe Schweikert (* 1941 ) is a German specialist in German studies , musicologist and historian, as well as an employee of the JB Metzler'sche publishing house .

Life

Schweikert studied German, musicology and history. In 1969 he received his doctorate with a thesis on Jean Paul's late work.

Schweikert has been a lecturer at Metzler Verlag Stuttgart since 1971. Since 1992 he has built up the music division there, which he is also responsible for.

Schweikert is also active as an author, editor and published the complete editions of the writings of Rahel Varnhagen , Ludwig Tieck and Hans Henny Jahnn .

Schweikert also works as a literary and music critic on the radio and in print media, but also writes theater reviews.

One of the most important works is the two editions of the Verdi manual (2001 and 2013) together with Anselm Gerhard .
