Várzea do Douro is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Marco de Canaveses . The community had 2102 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Várzea do Douro, Alpendurada e Matos and Torrão were merged to form the new municipality of Alpendorada, Várzea e Torrão .
