Väisälä is a small impact crater on the northwestern front of the moon . It is located north of the large Aristarchus ray crater , between its secondary craters Aristarchus B and Aristarchus Z , south of the small Toscanelli crater . It is bowl-shaped and little eroded.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1973 after the Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä .
